THE PORTFOLIO

Helen Cashman

Helen Cashman

VP Academic

I am looking forward to being the VP Academic for the Business Students’ Association this year. I’m a third year Operations Management student, with a minor in Strategic Management and Organization. However, I’m more commonly known for my love of grilled cheese, unhealthy obsession with excel, and poor spelling. My portfolio encompasses a core set of events that provide students with academically and professionally focused opportunities. I can assure you, the Academic portfolio not only puts on #flawless events, but we know how to have fun too. Our team has some incredible things planned for this upcoming year, which includes the always amazing Energize Business Conference, Alberta Internal Case Competition, “The Apprentice”, and our mentorship program. We also focus on advocacy efforts within the School of Business-connecting you with the SU, faculty, and the university administration. The most important thing I’ve learned at university is to take risks and challenge yourself. I basically lived by the principle of YOLO (or Carpe Diem when I want to seem profound), and that’s led to some amazing experiences. Getting involved will provide you with fantastic opportunities, and if you have any questions feel free to stop by our office and we would be happy to help! But, most importantly, work hard, play hard and enjoy your time here.

Hey there! This year, I am responsible for creating more opportunities for student representation through collaboration with the business faculty, the Student’s Union and the University of Alberta on a department level. In my spare time, you’ll probably spot me rock climbing, rockin out to rad tunes or relaxing in the sun!

Mentorship Director

Hey! This year I am going to be working to connect and create relations between students in the faculty of business. My favorite activity is re-watching gossip girl but eating food is always close second.
